NBL EXPERIENCE

Tywain Mckee made his NBL debut with the Wollongong Hawks at 23 years of age. He scored 22 points in his first game.

In his lone NBL season Mckee helped finish in second place (16-12) in 2009/10 but suffered a season-ending back injury mid-season and was unable to play any postseason games. The Hawks signed journeyman guard Luke Martin to help compensate for McKee’s absence and the team still made it to the NBL Grand Final without their leading scorer but fell short in the deciding third game.

Tywain Mckee played one season in the NBL. He averaged 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 17 NBL games.

After his "one and one" season in the NBL, McKee moved to Belarus to play for Minsk in the 2010-11 season.

In 2011, McKee signed a deal to play with Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia. He signed a extension and returned for the club for the 2012-13 season and finished the year as the EuroCup leading player in efficiency rating (23.6 per game) and second-leading player in assists (6 per game). McKee was named two-time the EuroCup MVP of Week. This included McKee recorded a career-high 32 points, shooting 11-of-16 from the field, along with six rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 91–84 win over VEF Rīga on November 21, 2012.

After a NBA try-out in 2013, McKee signed with UNICS Kazan of Russia for the 2013/14 season and helped the team reach the 2014 EuroCup Finals and win the 2014 Russian Cup.

In 2014, McKee signed with the German team EWE Baskets Oldenburg for the 2014/15 season. McKee parted ways with Oldenburg shortly after, appearing in eight games.

Two months later, on January 7, 2015, McKee joined the Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem for the rest of the season. McKee helped Jerusalem to win the 2015 Israeli League Championship.

On July 23, 2015, McKee signed with French team Le Mans Sarthe for the 2015/16 season. On December 22, 2015, McKee erupted for a career-high 32 points, shooting 12-of-18 from the field, along with six rebounds, and three assists in a 82–71 win over Nanterre. McKee helped Le Mans to win the 2016 French Cup.

On August 22, 2016, McKee signed a one-year deal with Türk Telekom of the Turkish Basketball First League.[16]

On August 2, 2017, McKee signed with Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv for the 2017/18 season, joining his former head coach Danny Franco. On February 17, 2018, McKee recorded a season-high 22 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field, along with three rebounds, and seven assists in a 85–86 loss to Hapoel Gilboa Galil. McKee helped Hapoel to reach the 2018 Israeli League Final Four, where they eventually lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

On July 23, 2018, McKee signed a one-year deal with the French team Cholet Basket. On December 23, 2018, McKee parted ways with Cholet to join the Polish team Wilki Morskie Szczecin for the rest of the season. However, on February 4, 2019, McKee parted ways with Szczecin after appearing in five games.

On March 1, 2019, McKee signed with the Greek team Panionios for the rest of the season.

On October 12, 2019, McKee signed with the Tunisian team US Monastir for the rest of the season.

McKee spent the 2020-21 season with BC Borisfen in Belarus, averaging 11.5 points, four assists, three rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.

McKee signed with APOP Paphos B.C. of the Cyprus Basketball Division A for the 2021-22 season.

COLLEGE

Tywain McKee played college basketball at Coppin State University from 2005–06 through 2008–09, becoming a four-year backcourt fixture for the Eagles across 127 career games (119 starts).

As a freshman in 2005–06, McKee appeared in 29 games (26 starts) and averaged 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.6 minutes per game while shooting 42.2% from the field, 36.7% from three, and 76.2% at the line, and he was selected as the MEAC Rookie of the Year.

In 2006–07, he started all 32 games and lifted his production to 17.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in 34.0 minutes, with shooting splits of 40.1% from the field, 31.6% from three, and 76.9% on free throws.

McKee played college basketball at Coppin State University and was a member of the 2007/08 Eagles team that went to the NCAA tournament with a 16–20 record. He was also the 2008 player of the year for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. In that 2007–08 season, he played 34 games (29 starts) and averaged 16.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals in 35.4 minutes per game while shooting 44.0% from the field, 43.8% from three, and 87.0% at the line, and he was named the 2008 MEAC Tournament MVP after helping Coppin State win the conference tournament as the No. 7 seed, including a 33-point performance in a 62–60 title-game win over Morgan State that was capped by a go-ahead floater with three seconds remaining (and finished as a four-game MEAC tournament record of 93 total points). In the NCAA tournament First Round loss to Mount St. Mary’s on March 18, 2008 (69–60), McKee logged 38 minutes and finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists (6-for-17 FG, 1-for-5 3PT, 2-for-2 FT).

As a senior in 2008–09, McKee started all 32 games and posted his top scoring average at 18.4 points per game while also averaging 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.8 steals in 36.8 minutes, with shooting splits of 40.4% from the field, 36.0% from three, and 80.8% at the line; he was selected as the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year before the season and then went on to earn MEAC Player of the Year for 2008–09, along with another First Team All-MEAC selection, while leading Coppin State in scoring for a fourth straight year.

Across his Coppin State career (2005–2009), McKee totaled 2,158 points (16.9 points per game) with 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 41.6% from the field, 36.7% from three, and 80.5% from the free-throw line, and he finished as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
