Gabe Freeman spent the 2007–2008 season in Mexico with Correcaminos UAT Reynosa in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, where he averaged 22.6 points and 8.1 rebounds in 10 games after signing with the club in 2007.

Freeman spent the 2009 season in the Philippines with San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Fiesta Conference, appearing in 24 games and averaging 22.3 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, earning Best Import of the Conference while playing alongside teammates including Arwind Santos, Mick Pennisi, Danny Ildefonso, Dondon Hontiveros, Olsen Racela, Marc Pingris, and Jonas Villanueva, and finishing the conference as a title winner in the 2009 PBA Fiesta Conference with San Miguel.

Freeman spent the 2010 season in the Philippines with San Miguel Beermen during the 2010 PBA Fiesta Conference, playing 29 games and averaging 21.6 points, 17.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, and he again received the conference’s top import honour as Best Import, which is commonly treated as the import MVP award for the conference.

Freeman joined the Philippine Patriots in the ASEAN Basketball League during the 2009–2010 ABL season as an import replacement for Brandon Powell in January 2010, and he played under head coach Louie Alas alongside teammates including Jason Dixon, Dino Daa, Elmer Espiritu, Jerwin Gaco, and Khasim Mirza, with one noted performance in the ABL Finals where he scored 39 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Game 1 as the Patriots opened the series with a win.

Freeman returned to the Philippine Patriots for the 2010–2011 ASEAN Basketball League season, and in the first game of the ASEAN semifinals on 22 January 2011 he recorded 36 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in an 88–83 win over the KL Dragons as the Patriots continued their run in regional competition.

Freeman remained active in the Philippines across 2012 to 2014 with multiple PBA stints including Barako Bull Energy in 2012, Petron Blaze Boosters in 2012 and again in 2013, and Barangay Ginebra in 2012 and 2014, returning once more to San Miguel Beermen in 2013 in a separate stint that included ASEAN Basketball League action where he was suspended for one game and fined for unsportsmanlike conduct before an injury led to his replacement by Justin Williams.

Freeman moved to Canada for the 2011–2012 season with the London Lightning in the National Basketball League of Canada, winning the league’s inaugural regular-season MVP award and adding Finals MVP honours while helping London win the first NBL Canada championship, and later returned to Canada for additional NBL Canada seasons including stints with the Saint John Mill Rats in 2015–2016, the Saint John Riptide in 2016–2017, and the Halifax Hurricanes in 2018–2019, with his Mill Rats arrival pairing him with returning teammate Anthony Anderson on that roster.
