NBL EXPERIENCE

Walter Brown made his NBL debut with the Tasmania JackJumpers at 22 years of age. He went scoreless in his first NBL game.

Brown signed with Tasmania as a development player and went on to make eight appearances on the court in the 2022/23 season for the JackJumpers, scoring a total of three points, as the JackJumpers finished in fourth place (16-12).

2023/24
After a year as a development player the team showed their faith in Brown’s potential by signing him to a new three-year deal to remain with Tasmania until at least the 2025/26 NBL season.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • New Zealand - Canterbury Rams (2021–2025)

Brown joined Canterbury Rams for the 2021 New Zealand NBL season, playing his first season in New Zealand, and at 18 years of age he made his Rams debut with 4 points against the Nelson Giants before appearing in 11 games that year.

Brown returned to Canterbury for the 2022 New Zealand NBL season and averaged 7.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists across 14 games while shooting 40.5 per cent from three-point range.

Brown played with Canterbury again in the 2023 New Zealand NBL season and averaged a career-best 9.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, and he was named the league’s Youth Player of the Year as Canterbury won the 2023 Sal’s NBL championship with Brown contributing 10 points and 9 rebounds in the 93–82 Grand Final win over Auckland.

Brown re-signed with Canterbury for the 2024 New Zealand NBL season and averaged 9.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 51.7 per cent from the field and 42.2 per cent from three, and Canterbury won the 2024 Sal’s NBL title with Brown posting 10 points and 7 rebounds in the Grand Final.

Brown continued with Canterbury for the 2025 New Zealand NBL season and averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 48.1 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from three-point range.

COLLEGE

Walter Brown played NCAA basketball at UNLV during the 2025–26 season, joining the Runnin’ Rebels as a senior and appearing as a rotation forward in Mountain West play.

Across the 2025–26 season, Brown played in 19 games and averaged 12.7 minutes per game, producing 2.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per outing while shooting 48.6% from the field, 38.5% from three-point range, and 69.2% at the free-throw line.

Brown’s most productive stretch of minutes came in late January, highlighted by a season-high 27 minutes against New Mexico on January 27 where he finished with seven points, five rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal, followed by a 20-minute road win at Utah State on January 20 where he posted 10 points and five rebounds while going 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from three.

He also recorded a perfect free-throw night in UNLV’s January 3 win over Air Force, going 2-for-2 at the line with two rebounds, and he hit a made three-pointer in multiple appearances including a 3-point effort against Rutgers on November 27 and another against Tennessee State on December 13.

In conference play, Brown’s game log shows he contributed across several categories when given extended run, including five-rebound games against both Utah State and New Mexico, plus a one-block showing in games versus Rutgers, Stanford, New Mexico, and San Diego State, while adding steals in matchups such as Tennessee State, Alabama, Boise State, and New Mexico.
