INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Venezuela - Trotamundos de Carabobo (1999–2000) | Hungary - DEAC (2000–2003), Kecskemeti Univer KSE (2003), Soproni Ászok-SMAFC (2003–2004)

McDaniel joined Trotamundos de Carabobo for the 1999–2000 season, beginning a stint in Venezuela after his earlier professional stops outside the country.

McDaniel then moved to Hungary, playing multiple seasons with DEAC in Debrecen from 2000 to 2003, before spending time in 2003 with Kecskemeti Univer KSE, where he averaged 17.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for the season.

On October 30, 2003, McDaniel joined Sopron’s top-flight side Soproni Ászok-SMAFC, a move reported locally at the time as a signing that ran through May 31, 2004, with his expected debut coming immediately after his arrival once paperwork cleared.

COLLEGE

McDaniel redshirted at Arkansas in 1990-91, then began his four on-court seasons in 1991-92 as Nolan Richardson’s Razorbacks joined the SEC and finished 26-8 (13-3 SEC), ranked 9th in the final AP poll, with Arkansas averaging 89.8 points scored and 76.9 points allowed per game while reaching the NCAA Tournament round of 32.

In that 1991-92 season, McDaniel appeared in 27 games with 2 starts, totaling 106 points (3.9 points per game) on 33-for-97 shooting from the field (34.0%), going 11-for-35 on three-pointers (31.4%), and making 29-of-39 free throws (74.4%), while adding 29 rebounds, 31 assists, 26 steals, 2 blocks, 31 turnovers, and 30 fouls in 264 minutes.

As a sophomore in 1992-93, McDaniel played 30 games with 11 starts for an Arkansas team that went 22-9 (10-6 SEC), ranked 12th in the final AP poll, averaged 86.9 points scored and 77.5 points allowed per game, and reached the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.

In that 1992-93 campaign, he produced 225 points (7.5 per game) while shooting 76-for-177 from the field (42.9%), 21-for-73 from three (28.8%), and 52-for-77 at the line (67.5%), and he also finished with 58 rebounds, 48 assists, 45 steals, 4 blocks, 34 turnovers, and 64 fouls across 495 minutes.

McDaniel’s junior season in 1993-94 coincided with Arkansas’ national title run, as the Razorbacks finished 31-3 (14-2 SEC), were ranked 2nd in the final AP poll, and scored 3,176 total points across 34 games (93.4 per game) while allowing 2,659 (75.6 per game), with McDaniel later credited as an NCAA All-Region selection on the championship resume.

Across 31 games (13 starts) in 1993-94, he totaled 252 points (8.1 per game) on 81-for-199 shooting (40.7%), hit 38-of-108 threes (35.2%), made 52-of-69 free throws (75.4%), and recorded 87 rebounds, 59 assists, 53 steals, 2 blocks, 30 turnovers, and 83 fouls in 669 minutes.

In the 1994 NCAA championship game win over Duke (76-72), McDaniel logged 32:00 and finished with 7 points on 2-for-5 shooting (including 1-for-3 from three) and 2-for-4 free throws, adding 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and he was directly involved in the closing sequence by securing a key rebound and knocking down late free throws as Arkansas secured the program’s first national championship, which aligns with the provided note that he won a NCAA championship with Arkansas.

As a senior in 1994-95, McDaniel helped Arkansas return to the National Championship game, with the Razorbacks going 32-7 (12-4 SEC), ranked 6th in the final AP poll, and averaging 87.6 points scored and 79.9 points allowed per game, while McDaniel earned 1994-95 All-SEC recognition and was named to the 1995 Final Four All-Tournament Team.

Over 37 games (33 starts) in 1994-95, he posted 424 points (11.5 per game) while shooting 139-for-302 from the field (46.0%), 55-for-139 from three (39.6%), and 91-for-119 at the line (76.5%), and he added 113 rebounds, 90 assists, 1 block, 73 turnovers, and 98 fouls in 1,093 minutes while producing 102 steals, a 100-steal season that also stands as an Arkansas and SEC single-season steals record.

In the 1995 NCAA title game loss to UCLA (89-78), McDaniel played 35:00 and led Arkansas with 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting, drilling 3-of-7 from three and 3-of-4 at the line, while also collecting 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals in the final, capping a tournament run where Arkansas finished as the national runner-up.

Across his Arkansas career from 1991-92 through 1994-95, McDaniel appeared in 125 games with 59 starts and totaled 1,007 points, 287 rebounds, 228 assists, 226 steals, and 9 blocks, finishing with a career shooting line of 329-for-775 from the field (42.5%), 125-for-355 from three (35.2%), and 224-for-304 on free throws (73.7%).
