NBL EXPERIENCE

Liam Judd made his NBL debut with the New Zealand Breakers at 24 years of age. He went scoreless in his first NBL game.

After finishing ninth with a 10-19 record in 2024/25, New Zealand retained Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Sam Mennenga, Karim Lopez, Max Darling, Sean Bairstow, Carlin Davison and development guard Alex McNaught, while Matt Mooney, Jonah Bolden (to Illawarra), Mojave King (to Cairns), Grant Anticevich (to Belgium), Freddie Gillespie (to Turkey), Tacko Fall (to China), Tai Wynyard, Dane Pineau (retired) and Mitch McCarron (retired) departed.

After returning as President of Basketball Operations in March 2025, Dillon Boucher worked with second-year head coach Petteri Koponen to rebuild around a stronger New Zealand playing core. In April, Boucher said the Breakers had contacted virtually every New Zealander playing outside New Zealand or Australia, directly or through their agents, with Finn Delany and Yanni Wetzell among the overseas players publicly discussed as potential recruits.

Coach Petteri Koponen returned for a second season and added Reuben Te Rangi (via Tasmania), Izayah Le’Afa (via Sydney), Rob Loe (via Melbourne), Taylor Britt (via Canterbury), imports Izaiah Brockington (via Vancouver) and Rob Baker II (via Berlin), with Jack Andrew, Liam Judd and Tukaha Cooper joining the development-player group.

New Zealand added Liam Judd (via Nelson) to its development program on a one-year deal after his season with the Nelson Giants in the NZNBL.

Judd (1.5 points across 2 games) received two late-season opportunities. Judd (2 rebounds and 1 steal) played 1:02 in an 83-114 loss to South East Melbourne before making his only shot in the regular-season finale, where Judd (3 points) played 4:21 as New Zealand defeated Cairns 115-84 and finished seventh with a 13-20 record. Judd remained unused in New Zealand’s last game, a 111-107 Ignite Cup Final win over Adelaide.

Liam Judd played one season in the NBL. He averaged 1.5 points, 1 rebounds, and 0 assists in 2 NBL games.
