NBL EXPERIENCE

Tywain Mckee made his NBL debut with the Wollongong Hawks at 23 years of age. He scored 22 points in his first game.

In his lone NBL season Mckee helped finish in second place (16-12) in 2009/10 but suffered a season-ending back injury mid-season and was unable to play any postseason games. The Hawks signed journeyman guard Luke Martin to help compensate for McKee’s absence and the team still made it to the NBL Grand Final without their leading scorer but fell short in the deciding third game.

Tywain Mckee played one season in the NBL. He averaged 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 17 NBL games.

After his "one and one" season in the NBL, McKee joined Minsk-2006 for the 2010–11 season in Belarus.

In 2011, McKee signed with Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia and averaged 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals across 54 games in 2011–12.

McKee signed a contract extension with Triumph Lyubertsy on June 28, 2012 and returned for 2012–13, averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.4 steals across 11 EuroCup games while finishing first in EuroCup efficiency rating at 23.6 and second in assists at 6.0.

On November 21, 2012, McKee scored a career-high 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting with six rebounds, six assists and four steals in Triumph Lyubertsy’s 91–84 EuroCup win over VEF Rīga, one of his two EuroCup MVP of the Week games that season.

After an NBA try-out in 2013, McKee signed with UNICS Kazan for the 2013–14 season in Russia and helped the team win the 2014 Russian Cup and reach the 2014 EuroCup Finals while averaging 7.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 44 games.

McKee signed with EWE Baskets Oldenburg on August 1, 2014 for the 2014–15 German BBL season and parted ways on October 27, 2014 after eight total games, averaging 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in six BBL games.

McKee joined Hapoel Jerusalem on January 7, 2015 for the rest of the 2014–15 Israeli Basketball Super League season and helped Jerusalem win the 2015 Israeli League Championship while averaging 7.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 27 league games.

McKee signed with Le Mans Sarthe on July 23, 2015 for the 2015–16 French LNB Pro A season and averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals across 51 games.

On December 22, 2015, McKee scored a career-high 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting with six rebounds and three assists in Le Mans Sarthe’s 82–71 win over Nanterre, and he helped Le Mans win the 2016 French Cup.

McKee signed a one-year deal with Türk Telekom on August 22, 2016 for the 2016–17 Turkish Basketball First League season and averaged 18.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.5 steals across 38 games.

McKee signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv on August 2, 2017 for the 2017–18 Israeli Basketball Super League season and joined former head coach Danny Franco, averaging 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 38 games.

On February 17, 2018, McKee recorded a season-high 22 points on 5-of-7 shooting with three rebounds and seven assists in Hapoel Tel Aviv’s 86–85 loss to Hapoel Gilboa Galil, and he helped Hapoel Tel Aviv reach the 2018 Israeli League Final Four before losing to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

McKee signed a one-year deal with Cholet Basket on July 23, 2018 for the 2018–19 French Jeep Élite season and averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four league games.

On December 23, 2018, McKee parted ways with Cholet Basket and joined Wilki Morskie Szczecin for the rest of the 2018–19 Polish Basketball League season, then parted ways with Szczecin on February 4, 2019 after five games.

McKee signed with Panionios on March 1, 2019 for the rest of the 2018–19 Greek Basket League season and averaged 5.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 10 games.

McKee signed with US Monastir on October 12, 2019 for the rest of the 2019–20 Tunisian Division I season.

McKee spent the 2020–21 season with BC Borisfen in Belarus, averaging 11.5 points, four assists, three rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

McKee signed with APOP Paphos B.C. on September 5, 2021 for the 2021–22 Cyprus Basketball Division A season and averaged 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 15 games.

McKee returned to BC Borisfen during the 2021–22 Belarusian Premier League season and averaged 12.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.5 steals in 17 games, including 23 points, five rebounds and five assists against Tsmoki-Minsk on May 6, 2022.

COLLEGE

Tywain McKee played college basketball at Coppin State University from 2005–06 through 2008–09, becoming a four-year backcourt fixture for the Eagles across 127 career games (119 starts).

As a freshman in 2005–06, McKee appeared in 29 games (26 starts) and averaged 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.6 minutes per game while shooting 42.2% from the field, 36.7% from three, and 76.2% at the line, and he was selected as the MEAC Rookie of the Year.

In 2006–07, he started all 32 games and lifted his production to 17.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in 34.0 minutes, with shooting splits of 40.1% from the field, 31.6% from three, and 76.9% on free throws.

McKee played college basketball at Coppin State University and was a member of the 2007/08 Eagles team that went to the NCAA tournament with a 16–20 record. He was also the 2008 player of the year for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. In that 2007–08 season, he played 34 games (29 starts) and averaged 16.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals in 35.4 minutes per game while shooting 44.0% from the field, 43.8% from three, and 87.0% at the line, and he was named the 2008 MEAC Tournament MVP after helping Coppin State win the conference tournament as the No. 7 seed, including a 33-point performance in a 62–60 title-game win over Morgan State that was capped by a go-ahead floater with three seconds remaining (and finished as a four-game MEAC tournament record of 93 total points). In the NCAA tournament First Round loss to Mount St. Mary’s on March 18, 2008 (69–60), McKee logged 38 minutes and finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists (6-for-17 FG, 1-for-5 3PT, 2-for-2 FT).

As a senior in 2008–09, McKee started all 32 games and posted his top scoring average at 18.4 points per game while also averaging 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.8 steals in 36.8 minutes, with shooting splits of 40.4% from the field, 36.0% from three, and 80.8% at the line; he was selected as the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year before the season and then went on to earn MEAC Player of the Year for 2008–09, along with another First Team All-MEAC selection, while leading Coppin State in scoring for a fourth straight year.

Across his Coppin State career (2005–2009), McKee totaled 2,158 points (16.9 points per game) with 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 41.6% from the field, 36.7% from three, and 80.5% from the free-throw line, and he finished as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
