Tom Garlepp is a great human being.
A family man, married to former WNBL player Renae Camino, proud father, ambassador for Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Special Olympics.
He’s just really great, loyal guy.
This is why he has agreed to play for the Sydney Kings for another two seasons.
Garlepp was coveted by all 9 other NBL teams during the league’s off season and Garlepp was open to listening to what other team’s had to say, but ultimately decided that the opportunity to carve a legacy in Sydney Kings lore was too good to leave.
“I had some good offers, but in the end I really wanted to have my name be synonymous with the Sydney Kings,” Garlepp said.
Last season, the 29 year old took out the club MVP award and also reached the 200 NBL games milestone while in the purple and gold.
Since joining the Kings Garlepp has improved every season become the team’s Co-Captain for the past two NBL campaigns and carved out a strong reputation as a workhorse in the NBL.
“When someone mentions my name, I want them to say ‘He’s a Sydney King’.
“That’s a pretty valuable thing, and I think it’s great to have my name attached to one club.”
With the 2019 FIBA World Cup likely to include no NBA players Garlepp is also expected to be an important part of the team which is able to qualify for the revised competition set to be held in China.
Garlepp now makes the Sydney Kings roster five deep with Julian Khazzouh, Jeromie Hill, Jason Cadee, and Kevin Lisch already signed.
