BIO: Pierre Wooten was born in Cincinnati, Ohio (USA).
NBL EXPERIENCE
Pierre Wooten made his NBL debut with the New Zealand Breakers at 26 years of age. He went scoreless in his first NBL game.
With New Zealand entering their second season under coach Andrej Lemanis, the majority of the roster was kept intact, with the addition of Oscar Forman, who left his hometown 36ers, the only major local change. After being unable to get the right mix of imports last season, Lemanis signed former NBL leading scorer Brian Wethers (via Hunter) and Carlos Powell.
Powell (28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists) was a offensive machine. His 34-point debut remains a team record and he went on to become the first player in history to play one season in the NBL and lead the league in scoring. His offensive brilliance was on full display in his 50-point haul against Melbourne, which remains the highest-scoring game in Breakers history.
In January, during a loss to Sydney (89-100), Weathers (19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals) injured his knee and was unable to play the remainder of the season.
Wooten join the Breakers as his replacement, but after a woeful debut appearance where he played just eight minutes and missed all four of his shots. It was clear he would not be able to replace the scoring power of Weathers.
While Wooten (8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 steals) struggled to make a impact, Powell was wowing crowds with his athleticism, which saw him named NBL Slam Dunk champion during the 2007 NBL All-Star game. However, Powell’s offensive brilliance did not deliver the much-needed team success, as New Zealand finished in tenth place (11-22) after a ten-game losing streak halted the Breakers’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
Pierre Wooten played one season in the NBL. He averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 9 NBL games.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Wooten played professionally in Europe from 2003 until 2013.
COLLEGE
Wooten was a member of four Big South Conference Championship basketball team's and was the starting point guard on three of those team's (2000, 2001, and 2002). He was a member of Winthrop's first team to appear in the NCAA Tournament (1999). In 2002, Wooten was voted MVP of the Big South Championship Tournament and in 2003 was voted Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He currently ranks seventh on the Winthrop career lists for assists (375) and free throws made (277), and is eighth for free throws attempted (399).
Wooten was entered into the Winthorp University Hall of Fame in 2015.
