Hometown: Canberra, ACT

Current Team: San Antonio Spurs (NBA)

Former Teams: Portland Trailblazers (NBA), St Mary’s (NCAA)

No surprises here, Patty Mills earns his second Player of the Week after leading his San Antonio  Spurs (50-16) over Golden State (23-43) 107-101, winning game MVP and tallying the highest score in the NBA by an Australian, 34 points as well as 5 rebounds and 12 assists. It was the Spurs tenth victory in a row and they look very strong going into the NBA playoffs. Mills finished his third NBA season with averages of 10.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.4apg, whilst shooting 48.5%. He becomes only the third Australian (after Andrew Bogut and Luc Longley) to average double figures in an NBA season.

Brad Newley will play a huge part in the Boomers Olympic campaign. After recently losing the Eurocup championship Newley has played with renewed vigour. This week he played a big part in Valencia Basket’s (19-13) loss to Sevilla (18-14) 58-65. Scoring 17 points and adding 4 rebounds in 30 minutes, he was the game’s top scorer, despite the loss. David Andersen

Hometown: Carlton, VIC

Current Team: Montepaschi Siena (Italy – Serie A)

Former Teams: Wollongong Hawks (NBL), CSKA Moscow (Euroleague), Houston Rockets (NBA), Toronto Raptors (NBA), New Orleans Hornets (NBA)

David Andersen seems to always get a mention here.  This week it is for his 16 point, 7 rebound and 4 assist effort in only 22 minutes which allowed Montepaschi Siena (23-7) to take the victory from Scavolini Pesaro (18-12) in Italy’s SerieA. His team is currently on a five game winning streak with Andersen’s recent strong play being a significant reason for that. Two games remain before the Italian League finals begin. Andersen has averaged 15.2ppg, 5.7apg while shooting a remarkable 41.3% from downtown for a big man.
