At the first international break, we look at the league leaders in total win shares.
According to RealGM’s basketball glossary, Win Shares can be broken into the following.
OWS (Offensive Win Shares): An estimate of the number of wins a player produces on offensive possessions.
DWS (Defensive Win Shares): An estimate of the number of wins a player produces on defensive possessions.
WS (Win Shares): An estimate of the total number of wins a player produces.
There has been a lot of talks that Bryce Cotton’s season is an underwhelming one. However, Perth’s superstar guard leads the league in total win shares. Adelaide’s Mitch Creek and Cairns’ Cameron Gliddon round out the podium for win shares so far in the league.
Funnily enough, Perry Ellis is the only player in the top twenty with a negative defensive win-share. The Kings’ poor defence this season is undoubted to blame.
