COLLEGE
Cornette played college basketball at Butler during the 1999–2000 season and competed with the Bulldogs from 1999 to 2002 as a forward in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference (later the Horizon League).
In 1999–2000, Butler finished 23–8 overall and 12–4 in MCC play under head coach Barry Collier, and Cornette appeared in 31 games as a freshman, averaging 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting above 50 percent from the field.
During that freshman season, he recorded multiple double-figure scoring games and contributed in Butler’s MCC Tournament run, helping the Bulldogs secure the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In 2000–01, Butler posted a 24–8 overall record and a 12–4 mark in conference play, and Cornette played 32 games, averaging 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while ranking among the team leaders in field-goal percentage and blocked shots.
He scored in double figures in more than half of Butler’s games that season and delivered consistent interior scoring during conference competition, contributing to another NCAA Tournament appearance for the Bulldogs.
In 2001–02, Butler finished 26–6 overall and 14–2 in conference play, and Cornette started the majority of Butler’s 32 games, averaging 12.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while leading the team in field-goal percentage and ranking among the conference leaders in blocks per game.
Across the 2001–02 season, he recorded multiple double-doubles and was named to the All-Midwestern Collegiate Conference First Team after leading Butler in rebounding and serving as one of the program’s primary interior scoring options.
Over his three-year Butler career from 1999 to 2002, Cornette appeared in more than 90 games, compiled over 900 career points, secured more than 450 career rebounds, and helped Butler reach the NCAA Tournament in each of his seasons with the program during that stretch.
