In 1991, Everette played in the WA state league for Goldfields. There he appeared in 12 games and averaged 38 points per game.

Alongside Marc Ridlen, Graham Davis and Robert Croker, Everett, as a part of the Sydney Comets team that won the 1992 CBA national championship.

NBA EXPERIENCE

Jerry Everett was drafted by the Phoenix Suns with pick #56 in the 1985 NBA Draft.

COLLEGE

Everett played college basketball at Lamar University during the 1983-84 season and competed there through the 1984-85 season under head coach Pat Foster.

He joined the Cardinals as a junior in 1983-84 and played 31 games while producing 417 points (13.5 points per game), 145 rebounds (4.7 rebounds per game), and 96 assists (3.1 assists per game), adding 37 steals and 11 blocks while shooting 49.6% from the field and 73.6% at the free throw line.

Lamar finished 26-5 overall and 11-1 in Southland Conference play to win the regular-season conference championship, then lost the Southland Conference tournament championship game to Louisiana Tech and moved into the 1984 National Invitation Tournament.

In the 1984 NIT, Lamar beat New Mexico 64-61 in the first round before losing 76-74 to Santa Clara in the second round to close the season with a 26-5 record.

As a senior in 1984-85, Everett played 32 games and totaled 540 points (16.9 points per game), 164 rebounds (5.1 rebounds per game), and 135 assists (4.2 assists per game), and he also recorded 64 steals (2.0 steals per game) and 12 blocks while shooting 45.9% from the field and 69.3% at the line across 35.0 minutes per game.

Lamar went 20-12 overall and 8-4 in Southland Conference games, then reached the 1985 Southland Conference tournament final before falling 70-69 to Louisiana Tech, with Everett named the tournament MVP and included on the all-tournament team alongside Karl Malone and Joe Dumars.

Lamar earned a 1985 National Invitation Tournament bid, beat Houston 78-71 in the first round, and then lost 85-84 in overtime to Chattanooga in the second round to end the season 20-12.

During the 1984-85 season, Everett scored 30 points in an 81-69 Southland Conference win over Northeast Louisiana.

Across Everett’s two Lamar seasons, he played 63 games and finished with 957 points (15.2 points per game), 309 rebounds (4.9 rebounds per game), 231 assists (3.7 assists per game), 101 steals (1.6 steals per game), and 23 blocks (0.4 blocks per game).

Everett earned first-team All-Southland Conference recognition in 1984-85, and his Lamar career was later recognized on the Southland’s 1980s all-decade list of conference players.

He was selected in the 1985 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns in the third round as the 56th overall pick after completing his senior season at Lamar.
