NBL EXPERIENCE
James Smith made his NBL debut with the Sydney Kings on 23/10/2000. He scored 15 points in his first game.
Perhaps the greatest dunker in NBL history. Recruited out of Mackay in far North Queensland, Smith lit up Qudos Bank Arena with his spectacular dunks and incredible athleticism for two seasons (2000-2002).
James Smith played two seasons the Sydney Kings. He averaged 11 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 51 NBL games.

COLLEGE
James Smith began his collegiate basketball career at Faulkner Community College, where he played two seasons from 1994–95 through 1995–96 before earning the opportunity to move to the NCAA Division I level.
After completing his junior college career, Smith transferred to Colorado State University and played two seasons with the Rams from 1996–97 to 1997–98, competing in the Western Athletic Conference during a period in which the program was a consistent postseason contender.
During his time at Colorado State, Smith appeared in 52 games across two seasons and averaged 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, providing backcourt depth and rotation minutes for a veteran Rams lineup.
Smith played alongside Milt Palacio at Colorado State, with Palacio later going on to reach the NBA, and the pair were part of a Rams backcourt that blended experience with athleticism during the late 1990s.
The Rams enjoyed team success during Smith’s tenure, including a 1996–97 season in which Colorado State won the Western Athletic Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, followed by continued postseason relevance during the 1997–98 campaign.
Across his two seasons at Colorado State, Smith contributed as a secondary scorer and facilitator while adapting from junior college basketball to the pace and physicality of Division I competition, completing his NCAA career after the 1997–98 season.
