Carson joined Metalac Valjevo for the 2015 Liga ABA season in Serbia, appearing in one ABA League game before his release from the club the same year, marking his first European professional stint outside the United States and Australia. During that brief appearance he did not record any scoring or statistical contributions in league play before departing the team.

In February 2016 Carson signed with Adanaspor of the Turkish Basketball First League, the second tier of professional basketball in Turkey, where in nine league games he averaged 12.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while playing 27.6 minutes per contest.

For the 2017–18 Greek Basket League season Carson joined ASA Koroivos Amaliadas in Greece, competing in the nation’s top division; across 25 games he posted 13.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as his team finished in the lower part of the league standings and was relegated.

Carson moved to Romania for the 2018–19 season with BCM U Pitești in the Liga Națională, where in 22 combined appearances between Pitesti and a stint with the Canadian Moncton Magic he averaged 14.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, shooting 48.7 percent from the field.

In 2019 he signed with APOEL Nicosia of the Cyprus Basketball Division A, playing at least one league game in which he recorded 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Carson continued his European career in Bulgaria with Academic Bulteks 99 Plovdiv in the Bulgarian National Basketball League during the 2020–21 season, averaging 11.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists across 22 league games and also competing in Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL) play.

In June 2021 he joined Limburg United of the Belgian BNXT League, where in nine games he averaged 7.6 points, 3.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds before parting ways with the club later that year.

For the 2022–23 season Carson signed in Kosovo, competing with both KB Rahoveci and Vëllaznimi Gjakove in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague and averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in 22 total appearances between the two clubs.

In 2024 Carson joined ART Giants Düsseldorf in Germany’s ProA league; across at least 16 games in the 2023–24 ProA campaign he averaged 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists, shooting 36.0 percent from the field.

COLLEGE

Carson chose to play for coach Herb Sendek at Arizona State, however, he was declared academically ineligible for the 2011/12 season and did not appear in any games that year.

Carson played college basketball at Arizona State during the 2012/13 season, which the program finished 22–13 overall and 9–9 in Pac-12 play under head coach Herb Sendek, reaching the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals before advancing to the 2013 NIT (Second Round).

As a redshirt freshman in 2012/13, Carson averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 assists per game while playing 35 games and becoming the first Sun Devil freshman to both start and play in all 35 games, logging 37.2 minutes per game and 1,303 total minutes. He produced 647 points, made 231 field goals on 488 attempts, and added 177 assists, while shooting .473 from the field and .734 at the free throw line, and he set Arizona State freshman records in points, field goals made, field goals attempted, assists, total minutes, and 20-point games (18). His 18.5 points per game ranked seventh in Pac-10/12 history for a freshman and his 177 assists ranked sixth, and he also had three 30-point games, including a career-high 34 points against Stanford in the Pac-12 Tournament on March 13, 2013, when he scored five points in overtime in an 89–88 win. He was named the Pac-12 co-Freshman of the Year with UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad and a first team All-Pac-12 selection, while also earning a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.

In Arizona State’s 2013 NIT first-round win over Detroit on March 20, 2013, Carson posted 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the 83–68 victory, narrowly missing a triple-double, before the Sun Devils’ NIT run ended in the second round with a loss to Baylor.

Carson returned for his sophomore season in 2013/14 and was again named first team All-Pac-12 after averaging 18.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game while playing 33 games and 35.4 minutes per game. He totaled 614 points, 153 assists, 23 steals, and shot .433 from the field, .391 from three-point range, and .719 at the free throw line, as Arizona State went 21–12 overall and 10–8 in Pac-12 play, earning an NCAA Tournament berth and exiting in the Round of 64 with an 87–85 loss to Texas.

On April 16, 2014, Carson declared for the NBA draft, leaving Arizona State after two playing seasons and forgoing his remaining college eligibility.
