Denver Nuggets Signing Jack White To Two-Way Contract

The Nuggets are signing Australian forward Jack White to a two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

Jack White came into Nuggets Summer League camp late off a stint with the Australian National Team, then simply outplayed Denver’s other two-way candidates. He led the Nuggets in rebounding across four games while only playing the sixth-most minutes, shot 14 from 20 field goals and left the team with no other option than to use their last remaining two-way player spot to sign him. White averaged 8 points, 6.5 rebounds, one steal, and shot 70% from the field in his first four Summer League games.

The 24-year-old showcased his all-around talent from the very first game, putting up eight points, 15 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He followed that up with 14 points (5/6 shooting), five rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block against the Clippers, further proving his value on both ends of the floor. The United big man also knocked down two threes to show off his potency from range.

Entering Summer League, the Nuggets had one two-way spot left and White, among others, instantly competed for it. Jack White played his role to a T, seemingly making little to no mistakes the whole time he was in Vegas. He has a skill set that any NBA team would love to have coming off the end of their bench.

White’s two-way contract allows him to play up to 50 regular-season games and with the team’s G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold. Mike Singer reports that the Nuggets were specifically impressed by White’s rebounding and effort all around. Standing at 6’7, the former Duke player should give the Nuggets some added wing depth as well.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me to take another step towards living out my dream of playing in the NBA, so I couldn’t be more grateful to the Nuggets for giving me a shot,” White said prior to heading to Las Vegas.

The 24-year-old grew up in Traralgon in Country Victoria, and played four seasons at Duke before going undrafted in 2020. He has played the last two seasons with Melbourne United in the NBL, where he averaged 9.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 22.5 minutes per game.

United CEO Nick Truelson said the organisation “could not be more proud” of White in a statement released on the club website on Monday.

Denver now has both two-way spots and every spot on its 15-man roster filled. The team has a strong nucleus of Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic and expects to be a perennial championship contender next season.

“This is something that I’ve been wanting to do for a few years now since I finished college. It’s a great opportunity. If I do a good job, [it’s] a really good organisation here with Denver and just great people. For me, I think the most important thing is to just enjoy the experience and have fun, play hard, play my game and whatever happens from that happens.” said White after his summer league debut.

White’s signing comes just after Australian’s Dyson Daniels and Luke Travers became our latest NBA signees after being selected by the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers at this year’s draft.
