Melbourne United will be bringing back 2012 London Olympics Boomer David Barlow for the next season as the two sides have successfully reached an agreement, the team announced on Friday.
The 33-year-old is a well-known personality at the Victorian capital, having represented the Melbourne-based franchise five times in the past.
Barlow, who debuted in a United jersey a decade ago in 2007, has been on the team’s roster since 2014.
However, it hasn’t been all ideal for the power forward thus far in Melbourne, mainly due to injuries. After taking part in 25 United games in his comeback season at the team in 2014, Barlow was forced to sit out the entire 2015/2016 season because of an Achilles injury and nine games of this past NBL season due to a calf injury respectively.
Barlow’s notable experience and the knowledge of the game will be more than welcomed by United, who are as eager as anyone to make it all the way next season.
“I love this city and I love this team, so to have the opportunity to try and accomplish what we have been aiming for during the last couple of years is brilliant,“ Barlow said following the announcement.
Barlow averaged just over five points in 19 games played for Melbourne last season before he signed a short deal with Spanish side Obradoiro — where he didn’t stay for long — featuring in only game there as the two sides quickly decided to part ways.
