NBL EXPERIENCE

Fiston Ipassou made his NBL debut with the Adelaide 36ers at 19 years of age. He scored two points in his first game.

After a challenging NBL22 season, coach CJ Bruton was hopeful about the upcoming season after having a full off-season to prepare. Adelaide retained its core group, including Mitch McCarron, Anthony Drmic, Daniel Johnson, Sunday Dech, Hyrum Harris, and Kai Sotto, while also adding proven NBL imports Antonius Cleveland and Robert Franks. G-League star Craig Randall II was brought in to add more offensive firepower.

Adelaide’s season began with great promise, highlighted by a historic preseason victory over the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, making them the first overseas team to beat NBA opposition since 2015. However, the regular season proved far more challenging. After starting 3–4, internal tensions between Randall II and coach Bruton led to Randall’s release six games into the season.

Franks (17.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists) and Cleveland (15.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists) picked up the offensive load, but the team struggled to find consistency. With Johnson (11.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists) having his lowest-scoring season in years, Adelaide lost six of their final eight games, missing out on the Play-In tournament.

Mid-season, the addition of former King Ian Clark brought hope of a playoff push, but Adelaide ultimately fell short, finishing eighth with a 13-18 record.

As a development player, Ipassou appeared in only five games for the 36ers this season, failing to score a point.

Fiston Ipassou played one season in the NBL.

STATE LEAGUE EXPERIENCE

  • BA Centre of Excellence Canberra (2020–2021), Forestville (2022, 2024–2025)

Ipassou joined the BA Centre of Excellence for the 2020 season after receiving a scholarship to enter the program in Canberra in September 2020, and he remained with the Centre of Excellence through 2021 while also being selected for Australia’s under-19 World Cup camp in February 2021.

Ipassou joined Forestville for the 2022 NBL1 Central season and played 19 games, averaging 9.58 points and 5.42 rebounds per game. During that stint he scored 17 points against South Adelaide in Round 12, and he finished the season with 16 points in Forestville’s preliminary final loss to South Adelaide.

Ipassou rejoined Forestville for the 2024 NBL1 Central season and played 23 games, averaging 8.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He produced one of his best all-round performances on 27 April 2024 with 15 points and 16 rebounds against Woodville, then delivered 22 points in Forestville’s 91-84 preliminary final win over Sturt. Forestville went on to win the 2024 NBL1 Central championship, and at the NBL1 National Finals he pulled down eight rebounds against Eltham before Forestville dropped both games on the Sunshine Coast.

Ipassou returned to Forestville for the 2025 NBL1 Central season, where he teamed with Adelaide 36ers teammate Dejan Vasiljevic for the Eagles. Forestville entered the year as the reigning NBL1 Central champions, finished the regular season on top after losing only two games, and then fell one win short of the grand final with a preliminary final loss to West Adelaide. During that 2025 run, Ipassou contributed 12 points and eight rebounds in a win over Norwood.
