NBL EXPERIENCE
Dean Brebner made his NBL debut with the South Dragons at 22 years of age. He scored one point in his first NBL game.
Brebner was the final player selected for the Cairns Taipans roster in 2010. He beat out Simon Conn (Sandringham – ABA) for the spot.

STATE LEAGUE EXPERIENCE
- Warrnambool, Geelong (2005–2008), Cairns (2009–2010), Brisbane (2013–2016)
Brebner joined Warrnambool before his SEABL move, playing with the Seahawks as part of his early state league pathway before later moving into higher-level Victorian and Queensland competition.
Brebner joined Geelong for the 2005 SEABL season, with the Camperdown-born forward part of the Supercats’ state league group during a year when Geelong finished as SEABL East minor premiers with a 15–11 regular-season record, defeated Mildura to win the SEABL East Conference Championship and then hosted the ABA National Finals.
Brebner remained with Geelong through the club’s late-2000s SEABL run, and in 2008 he was one of the Supercats’ leading forwards as Geelong finished with a 25–5 record before its ABA title defence ended in a 123–91 loss to Cairns.
Brebner joined Cairns for the 2009 QBL season while also based in North Queensland, then appeared on the Cairns 2010 QBL roster as a 201cm forward alongside Deba George, Curt Ahwang, Jeromie Hill, Dwayne Vale and Josh Wood.
Brebner joined Brisbane for the 2013 SEABL season, and in an 82–80 win over Dandenong he helped decide the game from the perimeter, making 3-of-4 three-pointers as Brisbane pushed ahead late in the final quarter.
Brebner remained with Brisbane for the 2014 SEABL season, where he opened the year with the Spartans and had a chance to win the Round 1 game against Bendigo on the final possession before a late three-point attempt rimmed out in a one-point loss.
Brebner continued with Brisbane in 2014 and later led the Spartans’ scoring support in a road loss to the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence, combining with Brendan Teys for 31 points off the bench.
Brebner was still with Brisbane in the 2016 SEABL season, giving the Spartans another player with national-league experience in a group that also included CJ Bruton, William McDowell-White and import additions.
