Queensland’s Georgia Woolley was named camp MVP at the 2019 Basketball without Borders (BWB) Asia camp held in Tokyo, Japan this week.

Wooley, who also recently competed at the recent U18 National Championships in Townsville was joined by Victorian duo Emily Sewell and Keeley Evans and New South Wales’ Ruby-Belle Macdonald and Isabelle Morgan.

Australia also had a five boys also participating in the camp, Josh Hunt, Daniel Rogers and Kane Waters from Western Australia and South Australian’s Lewis Rowe and Victoria’s Patrick Ryan.

Australia had the largest representation of any one country at the camp with 10 players being selected by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

64 talented basketballers from 18 countries and territories in Asia-Pacific featured in the 11th Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia and had the opportunity to be coached by a number of current and former NBA/WNBA players as coaches.

This included three-time NBA Champion Sam Cassell, two-time NBA Champion Kevon Looney (Golden State Warriors), Robin Lopez (Milwaukee Bucks), Yuta Tabuse and former WNBA players Ashley Battle, Allison Feaster and Yolanda Moore.

Current NBA assistant coaches Pat Delany (Orlando Magic), Bryan Gates (Minnesota Timberwolves), Antonio Lang (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Wes Unseld Jr. (Denver Nuggets) were also in attendance.

An All-Star game was held during the camp where the top 14 players for the boys and girls were selected to participate.

Woolley, Morgan, Sewell and MacDonald all were selected to play in the girls all-star game and Rogers, Ryan and Rowe were selected for the boys all-star game.

The camp included a variety of development programs and training, both on and off the court which included movement efficiency, skill development stations, shooting and skills competitions, 5-on-5 games, and daily life skills seminars focusing on health, leadership and communication.
