The Perth Wildcats have finalised their imports with yesterday’s signing of former Houston Rockets shooting guard Michael Frazier II.

The signing was confirmed by Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.com yesterday and will see the Wildcats feature two NBA experienced players in Frazier and Bryce Cotton in their starting backcourt.

The team will also include former Orlando Magic forward Vic Law who was signed last month and plans to sign a big name local player for the starting centre position are believed to be on the cards.

A native of Tampa, Florida, Frazier chose to play college basketball with the University of Florida where he averaged 12 points per game in both his sophomore and junior seasons before nominating for the NBA draft. After going undrafted in the 2015 draft Frazier spent 2015-2016 playing in the NBA G-League before playing professionally in Italy.

The 191cm shooting guard set multiple records in college for his three-point shooting and together with Cotton, Law and Todd Blanchfield will pose a very difficult task for opposition NBL teams attempting to limit the Wildcats three-point shooting this season.

He achieved his dream of playing in the NBA in 2019 and played 13 games for the Houston Rockets after signing a two-way contract. On January 9, 2020, Frazier made his debut scoring 3 points in five minutes in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, he would average 2 points per game for the season.

Frazier then spent last season playing in the NBA G-League with the Delaware Blue Coats, the Philadelphia 76ers affiliate. Frazier averaged 12.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per game with the Blue Coats last season where Perth GM of Basketball Operations Danny Mills was able to get a good look at Frazier’s scoring ability in his former position of Director of Scouting at the 76ers.

The Wildcats are expected to formally announce his signing within the next few days.
