The Golden State Warriors are in the running to make NBA history as they attempt to beat the record set by the Chicago Bulls during the reign of Michael Jordan.
With the seemingly unstoppable force of the Golden State Warriors, NBA analysts and critics are baffled at how the other basketball teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs plan to beat Stephen Curry and his “merry men”. Given their current standing in the entire NBA community however, can fans expect the Golden State Warriors to keep its lineup in the years to come?
This question will be answered in the form of Andrew Bogut’s rapidly ending contract. With the free agency market brimming to the seams with players who will be looking for a pay rise, as well as being targets of other teams who hope to steal the winning formula by addition any Golden State talent they can Warriors will have to decide whether or not they extend the contract of the seven-footer or not.
For his part, Bogut has to make a decision on his future with the NBA team. That is, will he pursue other options in the market or immediately sign with the Golden State Warriors if they offer? It seems as far as Bogut is concerned he has already made up his mind.
“You’d be silly to try and leave what’s going on right now…. We’ll have a few of us that will have opportunities. Obviously I’m contracted for next year, but at the same time if he they offer me an extension I’ll definitely listen” Bogut told NBA.com
The Warriors have been reportedly talking to NBA superstars like Kevin Durrant this season and Kevin Love last year so Bogut isn’t likely to get too confident he will even have a spot on the Warriors roster if he decides to stay.
Bogut noted that his contract might be in the line if the Golden State Warriors decide to pursue other more expensive and talented players like Durrant. “I have no feel at all,” Bogut commented when asked about next seasons plans.
“(We) haven’t discussed it. Who knows. This league’s a funny league. Like I said if those moves that are rumored happen there’ll be a few of us that are gone. The way we can probably nip that in the bud is win another championship and they’re forced to bring us back. They’re stuck with us for longer.” Bogut said to NBA.com
“[W]e’ll see what happens. We all hear the rumors of other guys coming through here, so if that kind of stuff happens they’ll be some shedding of some contracts so who knows what can happen,” said Bogut.

Meanwhile, another possible roadblock for an extension with Bogut is Stephen Curry himself. The NBA MVP, who is currently the most widely known star in the Golden State Warriors roster, ranks 65th among the players in the league in terms of salary.
In fact, Curry earns even less than half of how much LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are earning. Hence, the NBA MVP is reportedly planning to ask for a higher pay from the Golden State Warriors. Given his stellar performance and influence in the hardwood court, it is expected that a number of teams would be highly interested in signing him if the Klay Thompson team refuses his conditions.
