NBL EXPERIENCE

Patric Fairs made his NBL debut with the Illawarra Hawks on 31/3/1990. He scored 18 points in his first game.

On the 27th of July, 1991 Fairs was a part of the highest scoring game in NBL history when the Illawarra Hawks lost to the Melbourne Tigers 186-158 in a game where a total of 344 points were scored. Fairs contributed 41 points himself and added 10 rebounds to the stat sheet as well. Remarkably the Hawks shot 76% from the field, which remains the highest shooting percentage ever recorded by a team in a losing effort.

Patric Fairs played two seasons the Illawarra Hawks. He averaged 25.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 52 NBL games.

COLLEGE

Fairs played college basketball at Texas from 1985 to 1987. As a junior, he appeared in 31 games and averaged 14.8 points per game with 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists while logging 34.5 minutes per game. In 1985-86, Fairs shot 6.6 field goals made per game on 13.3 attempts for a .496 field-goal percentage, and he averaged 1.6 made three-pointers per game on 2.4 attempts for a .671 three-point percentage, with 0.8 steals, 2.0 turnovers, and 2.8 fouls per game across those 31 games.

That 1985-86 Texas team finished 19-12 overall and went 12-4 in Southwest Conference play under head coach Bob Weltlich, and the season ended with an NIT run that included a first-round win over New Mexico (69-66) before a 71-65 loss to Ohio State in the second round.

Fairs was also recognized as an All-Newcomer Team selection in the Southwest Conference for the 1985-86 season.

As a senior in 1986-87, Fairs played 30 games with 29 starts and averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 36.2 minutes per game.

In 1986-87, he shot 6.8 field goals made per game on 15.6 attempts for a .439 field-goal percentage, made 1.2 three-pointers per game on 3.7 attempts for a .313 three-point percentage, and he added 2.1 free throws made per game on 3.0 attempts for a .711 free-throw percentage, with 1.2 steals, 0.3 blocks, 2.2 turnovers, and 2.9 fouls per game.

Texas went 14-17 overall (7-9 in SWC play) in 1986-87 under head coach Bob Weltlich, and the season included a notable early win over defending national champion Louisville (74-70).

Across his two Texas seasons combined, Fairs totaled 61 games and, based on his listed per-game production and games played, finished with approximately 969 points, 329 rebounds, and 79 assists, for combined averages of about 15.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

Over that two-year span, his 35.3 minutes per game placed him among the top career minute-load players in Southwest Conference history.
