NBL EXPERIENCE

Nikita Mikhailovskii made his NBL debut with the Tasmania JackJumpers at 21 years of age. He went scoreless in his first NBL game.

Tasmania entered the NBL for its inaugural season under head coach Scott Roth, building around imports Josh Adams, Josh Magette and MiKyle McIntosh alongside Will Magnay (via Perth), Jack McVeigh (via Adelaide), Clint Steindl (via Perth) and Sam McDaniel (via Melbourne).

Mikhailovskii (via Avtodor Saratov) joined Tasmania through the NBL Next Stars program after twice being named VTB United League Young Player of the Year. “The upcoming season will definitely be a huge challenge for me, but I am ready for it,” Mikhailovskii said. A foot injury ruled him out of Tasmania’s opening game against Brisbane before he was cleared to return the following week, although he remained outside Roth’s rotation until late January.

Mikhailovskii (0 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal) made his NBL debut against Adelaide at MyState Bank Arena on January 28, playing 2:07 as Tasmania defeated the 36ers 76-71. Adams (24 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals) and Magette (16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals) led the JackJumpers, while Hannahs (22 points) was Adelaide’s leading scorer.

Two days later, Mikhailovskii (2 points) scored his only NBL points during 4:19 against New Zealand as Tasmania defeated the Breakers 83-59, with Magette (22 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists) and McVeigh (17 points and 6 rebounds) leading the JackJumpers while Besson (19 points and 8 rebounds) was New Zealand’s best.

Mikhailovskii (1 point across 2 games) did not play again after January 30, with no further injury reported after his early-season foot problem. Tasmania, the NBL and Mikhailovskii mutually agreed to release him on March 12, allowing him to return to Russia.

Adams (17.5 points and 3.3 rebounds across 34 games), McVeigh (12.2 points and 4.8 rebounds across 33 games), Magette (11.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.4 steals across 34 games), Steindl (9 points across 34 games) and McIntosh (8.7 points and 3.8 rebounds across 34 games) became Tasmania’s major contributors, with Adams named to the All-NBL Second Team and Roth named NBL Coach of the Year. The JackJumpers finished fourth with a 17-11 record before defeating Melbourne in the semifinals and losing the Grand Final series to Sydney 3-0.

Nikita Mikhailovskii played one season in the NBL. He averaged 1 points, 0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 2 NBL games.
