The NBL & First Ever have collaborated with Warner Brothers to create Looney Tunes stylised jerseys to be worn in round 13 of the NBL20 season. All 9 teams will be wearing these jerseys and are being promoted through Warner Bros. Movie World.

You’ll see some very recognisable faces like Daffy Duck on the Kings jerseys running pick and rolls with Bogut or Wile E. Coyote and Cam Oliver swatting shots potentially Road Runner and LaMelo ball pushing the fast break and likely Marvin the Martian calling an unsportsmanlike foul.

This is a good thing for both Warner Brothers and the NBL as a bit of marketing for the holiday season where many families will be travelling up to the Gold Coast to the theme parks, and for the NBL having more varieties of merchandise to sell.

A significant under the radar factor is the highly anticipated ‘Space Jam 2’ the movie starting Lebron James set to be release in mid 2021. This will be a whole 25 years after the nostalgic hit of Saturday morning cartoons and everybody’s favourite 6’6 Shooting guard from North Carolina Michael Jeffery Jordan starred in the highest-grossing basketball film of all time.

With the NBL being a recognisable name now around the basketball world and especially in the States, this may be the first in a line of reoccurring Looney Tunes basketball merchandise.

The ‘Tunes Squad’ jerseys have always been popular and these jersey’s will be worn at Christmas and into the new year from the 26th-1st with 9 games in round 13 I believe this could be the beginning of a gradual integration of Warner Brothers merchandise back into basketball in preparation of Space Jam 2.

Personally I like the South East Melbourne Phoenix’s jersey the most for integrating and leaning into the green of their uniforms, unfortunately Perth Wildcats have made a stinker in my eyes, It’s hard to see Sylvester the Cat and individually I just never liked him Tweety Bird is and always has been the more likeable character.
