BIO: Michael James Vigor was born in Westhill (Scotland), to a English father and a Scottish mother.
He lived there for the first five years of his life before his family moved to Australia, settling in Perth (WA). There he began playing basketbal for the Perth Redbacks, first as a junior and then in the WA state league (SBL) as a teenager and attended Wesley College.
Michael Vigor made his NBL debut with the Perth Wildcats at 21 years of age. He went scoreless in his first NBL game.
In 2011, he joined the Perth Wildcats as a development player, spending three seasons with the team in that role.

Vigor joined Perth for the 2008 SBL season, beginning a long Redbacks state league run that continued through 2013 and later resumed from 2016 to 2018.
Vigor remained with Perth through the 2009 SBL season and continued to develop with the Redbacks across the next several seasons, building into a frontcourt role before his later award-winning and championship seasons with the club.
In 2012, he won the SBL Most Improved Player award with Perth, adding the league honour during his first Redbacks stint.
In 2013, Vigor averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds for Perth in WA’s State Basketball League, closing his first Redbacks run as one of the team’s leading frontcourt players.
Vigor joined Bendigo for the 2014 SEABL season, moving to Victoria for a two-year stint with the Braves after his Perth national league opportunity ended. Shawn Redhage, a former Brave and Perth teammate, recommended him to Bendigo, and Vigor averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in his first season with the club.
Vigor returned to Bendigo for the 2015 SEABL season and averaged 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds while playing fewer than 25 minutes per game. Bendigo finished the regular season second in the South Conference at 16–8 and advanced to the conference final before losing to Mount Gambier.
Vigor rejoined Perth for the 2016 SBL season, returning to the Redbacks as one of the club’s major signings after his Bendigo stint and time away from the WA state league. Perth named him team MVP for the 2016 season.
Vigor remained with Perth for the 2017 SBL season and helped the Redbacks win their first SBL championship in 20 years, with Perth beating Joondalup 103–70 in the Grand Final at a sold-out Bendat Basketball Centre. He had eight points, four rebounds and three assists in the title game as the Redbacks claimed the club’s fourth championship.
Vigor played his ninth season with Perth in 2018, completing the second Redbacks stint that ran from 2016 to 2018 and following the championship-winning season with another year at the club.
Vigor joined Lakeside for the 2019 SBL season, moving to the Lightning for the next phase of his WA state league career.
Vigor continued with Lakeside in 2020 during the West Coast Classic, giving him two seasons with the Lightning before his move to Willetton.
Vigor joined Willetton for the 2021 inaugural NBL1 West season and averaged 16.26 points, 10.57 rebounds, 3.15 assists and 1.15 steals across 19 games. Willetton’s season ended in the semi-finals with a 92–90 loss to Perth, where Vigor finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
Vigor rejoined Willetton for the 2022 NBL1 West season and averaged 11.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists across 19 games.
Vigor returned again for Willetton in the 2023 NBL1 West season and averaged 9.23 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.45 assists across 22 games.
Vigor rejoined Willetton for the 2024 NBL1 West season, returned from a late-season calf injury to play his 300th SBL and NBL1 West game in July, and helped the Tigers reach the Grand Final. Willetton lost 91–89 to Mandurah in the title game, with Vigor recording six points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Vigor remained with Willetton for the 2025 NBL1 West season, helping the Tigers finish the regular season fourth at 16–6 before they opened the finals with a 121-point win over Rockingham. He contributed 18 points, five assists and four rebounds in that finals win.
Vigor rejoined Willetton for the 2026 NBL1 West season, extending his state league career with the Tigers beyond the original 2021 Willetton stop.
After playing in the NBL Vigor ventured to England to play for the Plymouth Raiders, before joining the Bristol Flyers in 2016.
