In September 2008, Iti signed with the Rotterdam Challengers of the Netherlands for the 2008/09 season. In 32 games for Rotterdam, he averaged 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game.

COLLEGE

Martin Iti played NCAA Division I basketball at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 2003-2005, arriving as part of the 49ers’ 2003-04 squad that went 21-9 overall and 12-4 in Conference USA, finishing first in the league standings before a first-round exit in the NCAA Tournament.

In that 2003-04 season at Charlotte, Iti appeared in 30 games and made 23 starts, averaging 6.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 18.4 minutes per game while shooting 74-for-130 from the field (56.9%), going 0-for-1 on three-pointers, and making 32-of-59 at the free-throw line (54.2%).

Across those 30 games in 2003-04, he totaled 142 rebounds (48 offensive, 94 defensive), 22 assists, 35 blocks, 12 steals, 46 turnovers, and 91 personal fouls while scoring 180 points, and Charlotte as a team totaled 2,374 points across 30 games (79.1 per game) while allowing 2,148 (71.6 per game) and shooting 812-for-1,805 from the field (45.0%), 232-for-682 from three (34.0%), and 518-for-798 at the line (64.9%).

As a sophomore in 2004-05, Iti played 29 games and started 27 for a Charlotte team that finished 21-8 overall and 12-4 in Conference USA, and he averaged 5.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 18.2 minutes per game while shooting 65-for-127 from the field (51.2%), attempting no three-pointers, and going 15-for-47 at the foul line (31.9%).

In Charlotte’s 2004-05 totals, Iti recorded 116 rebounds (57 offensive, 59 defensive), 14 assists, 48 blocks, 10 steals, 34 turnovers, and 71 personal fouls with 145 points, while the 49ers scored 2,257 points across 29 games (77.8 per game) and allowed 2,093 (72.2 per game), and the season included a 74-73 road win at Indiana plus a 101-102 triple-overtime loss to No. 22 Alabama listed in the team’s results log.

After transferring to New Mexico State for 2006-2008, Iti played 32 games in 2006-07 (4 starts) for a 25-9 Aggies team that won the WAC Tournament, earned a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and lost 79-67 to No. 4 seed Texas in the East Region first round, and he averaged 6.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game while shooting 86-for-135 (63.7%) and 32-for-86 at the line (37.2%).

As a senior in 2007-08, Iti played 35 games with 14 starts for a New Mexico State team that went 21-14 overall and 12-4 in the WAC to finish as WAC regular-season champion, and he averaged 5.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game while shooting 74-for-146 from the field (50.7%) and 50-for-103 on free throws (48.5%), with the Aggies’ season ending in a 107-102 loss to Boise State in the WAC Tournament title game.

Across his four listed college seasons (Charlotte 2003-04 and 2004-05; New Mexico State 2006-07 and 2007-08), Iti’s career totals were 252 games played and 136 starts with 1,454 points, 1,142 rebounds (462 offensive, 680 defensive), 116 assists, 330 blocks, 82 steals, 342 turnovers, and 672 personal fouls, and he played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and New México State University.
