Jonah Bolden signs three-year deal with Maccabi

Australian big man Jonah Bolden has decided to sign a three-year deal with Israeli ball club Maccabi Tel Aviv.

After the Philadelphia 76ers drafted him at No. 36 in the second round of the NBA Draft last month, Bolden was allowed by the club to play elsewhere and allow him to develop his game further.

Bolden had a very impressive display at the NBA Summer League. The versatile forward can guard wings and centres, but he was mainly used as a five on both ends of the court.

Bolden suited up for FMP Belgrade of Serbia in the Adriatic League earlier this year, where he averaged 12.9 points and 7.2 rebounds while draining 41.9% of his three-pointers.

His new deal with Maccabi is also expected to have multiple NBA buy outs, giving the 76ers exclusive negotiating rights.

This arrangement eases up the logjam in the Philadelphia 76ers roster.

The NBA club already have Joel Embiid, Kahlil Okafor and Richaun Holmes manning the middle, while the forward spots are filled up featuring talented wings Dario Saric and Robert Covington, last year’s No. 1 pick and fellow Aussie Ben Simmons, Alex Poythress and new signing Amir Johnson.
