“They still let me play basketball (while I was n jail). One time I had a one o’clock game then I had to check into jail at six o’clock that night and I was watching my highlights in jail that night” Isaac Burton talks about playing basketball for the Las Vegas Silver Bandits during the time he serving a prison sentence.
The man who once electrified the Sydney “KING” dome in the late ’90s, Isaac “ICE” Burton takes time out of his day to discuss his playing career with Aussie Hoopla podcast host Dan Boyce.
The show covers his playing time with teams like Arizona State (NCAA), Phoenix Suns and Golden State (NBA) as well as the Sydney Kings and the Newcastle Falcons in Australia. Isaac shares his memorable games, opponents as well as his favourite moments from various Sydney nightclubs.
Isaac Burton was also involved in one of the biggest scandals in college sports history when he was part of an illegal point-shaving scheme in 1994. Ice spent time in a Las Vegas jail as a result of his part in the crime and tells Aussie Hoopla exactly what happened and how he hopes other young players can learn from his mistake.
An amazing player who was also drafted by two professional baseball teams (Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners) who despite growing up around career criminals and drugs in Los Angeles to the record books of the NBL, Arizona State and even the Drew League.
