For the first time ever David Andersen has won our International Player of the Week award three times in a row. David’s 19 points and 6 rebounds earnt the threepeat against Cimberio Varese,  the same team Andersen earnt the award against last week.  Montepaschi Siena (24-8) defeated Cimberio Varese (17-15) 91-75 in a much closer rematch from last week in Italian SerieA. Andersen was dominant in his 21 minutes on the court and the win helps to keep Montepaschi on top of the Italian League Ladder. Andersen currently averages 14.6ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.3apg. He will be a big factor in our National teams hopes in London.

Honourable Mentions

Brad Newley

Hometown: Lower Mitcham, SA

Current Team:  Valencia Basket (Spain –  ACB, Euroleague)

Former Teams: Townsville (NBL), Besiktas (Turkey), BC Lietuvos Rytas (Lithuania)

Brad Newley has recently stepped up his game within the Spanish ACB of late. This week in a very close game Newley helped seal the deal for his team as Valencia Basket (20-14) defeated Lagun Aro GBC (19-15) 75-67. Newley scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 28 minutes and was named game MVP. He was clearly the best player in that game. His team, which also features fellow Aussie A.J. Ogilvy currently is placed fourth in the ACB. This season Newley averages 6.7ppg and 2.5rpg

Daniel Kickert

Hometown: Kew, VIC

Current Team: PGE Turow (Spain –  ACB)

Former Teams: St Mary’s (NCAA), Gran Canaria (Spain – ACB),  CB Breogán (Spain – LEB)

Daniel Kickert has been very, very productive in recent weeks, being a mainstay in our player of the week mentions. This week his Polish team PGE Turow (2-8) defeated Zastal ZG (6-4) in a definitive 95-69 victory. Kickert was instrumental in the win and contributed 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Kickert has been solid so far this season averaging 14.8ppg and 4.3rpg. It is rumored Kickert may be returning to Australia to play in the NBL this season however if he keeps putting up big numbers in Poland a lucrative European deal may change his mind.
