COLLEGE

Thomas played college basketball at Wake Forest from 1984 to 1986. As a freshman in 1984-85, he appeared in 28 games with 18 starts and logged 764 minutes, scoring 230 points (8.2 points per game) while shooting 54.1% from the field and 56.6% at the free throw line.

In that 1984-85 season, he added 95 rebounds (3.4 per game) and 21 assists (0.8 per game), along with 21 turnovers and 40 personal fouls.

Wake Forest finished the 1984-85 season 15-14 overall and 5-9 in ACC play under head coach Carl Tacy.

As a sophomore in 1985-86, Thomas played 17 games with 15 starts and totaled 464 minutes, producing 177 points (10.4 points per game) and 92 rebounds (5.4 per game) while shooting 50.0% from the field and 51.9% at the line.

During that 1985-86 season, he also recorded 11 assists, 12 turnovers, and 33 personal fouls.

Wake Forest went 8-21 overall and 0-14 in ACC games in 1985-86 under head coach Bob Staak.

Thomas transferred to New Mexico and did not play in the 1986-87 season due to transfer requirements.

As a junior at New Mexico in 1987-88, he started all 36 games and played 1,117 minutes, scoring 613 points (17.0 points per game) and grabbing 271 rebounds (7.5 per game) while shooting 56.3% from the field and 66.8% at the free throw line.

In 1987-88, he also produced 55 assists (1.5 per game), 39 steals (1.1 per game), 10 blocks, 79 turnovers, and 123 personal fouls.

New Mexico finished 22-14 overall and 8-8 in WAC play in 1987-88 under head coach Gary Colson.

Thomas was named the 1987-88 WAC Rookie of the Year and earned All-WAC recognition that season.

As a senior in 1988-89, he started all 33 games and logged 1,045 minutes, totaling 545 points (16.5 points per game) and 258 rebounds (7.8 per game) while shooting 62.2% from the field and 64.1% at the free throw line.

In 1988-89, he added 64 assists (1.9 per game), 35 steals (1.1 per game), 6 blocks, 62 turnovers, and 97 personal fouls.

New Mexico went 22-11 overall and 11-5 in WAC games in 1988-89 under head coach Dave Bliss.

Across his full college career, Thomas played 114 games with 102 starts, totaling 3,390 minutes and finishing with 1,565 points (13.7 points per game), 779 rebounds (6.8 per game), and 151 assists (1.3 per game).

He finished his college career with 111 steals, 50 blocks, 214 turnovers, 379 personal fouls, 57.0% shooting from the field, and 62.9% at the free throw line, and he earned All-WAC recognition three times across his New Mexico seasons.
