Aussies in the NBA Summer League

With the NBA draft come and gone, the basketball community now focuses on the NBA Summer League, where newly drafted players and hopeful free agents showcase their skills to gain a playing contract.

And with the emergence of Australia and New Zealand as a genuinely elite basketball nation, more and more players from the region are receiving attention from NBA scouts.  Players from the NBL are obtaining summer league roster spots which didn’t happen that much in previous years, with the hopes of capturing an NBA position.

Unfortunately, Ben Simmons will not be playing for Philadelphia, as he is still returning from his foot injury.

The Summer League has three tournaments spanning seventeen days.  Starting in Orlando from July 2nd-7th (Australia time), it then shifts to Utah from the 4th to 6th of July and finishing in Las Vegas from the 8th to the 17th of July.

Like last season, ESPN on Foxtel will be showing the Las Vegas portion of the NBA Summer League.  Starting on July 8th, there will be at least two games shown live, with a triple-header on the first day.

Here is a list of all the Australians, New Zealanders and players with Australian experience that have been announced so far.  Check back here for updates on who will be suiting up in the summer league.
