BIO: Alexandre Sarr was born in Toulouse (France). There he competed in Spain with Real Madrid’s Cadet A Youth Team before spending two years in the USA developing his game with the Overtime Elite (OTE) program. Competing at OTE with, and against, some of the world’s brightest young talents, Sarr was a force down low finishing second in the league in BLK% (4.1%) and averaged 3.0 blocks per 40 minutes.
A very fluid and mobile big man with really good movement skills, agility and leaping ability. He moves more like a wing than a traditional center. Has a lot of potential as a face-up player where he can use his speed and mobility to take defenders off the bounce – or pull up from mid range. He is also a versatile defender who can guard the 3pt line.

FAMILY: The younger brother of NBA player Olivia Sarr.
Alexandre Sarr made his NBL debut with the Perth Wildcats at 19 years of age. He scored nine points in his first game.
Alexandre Sarr made history as Perth’s first-ever NBL Next Star, continuing the tradition of exciting French talents finding success in the league. Announced as a Wildcat at just 18 years old, Sarr brought a reputation for dominating players his age. Not only was he a standout in America’s Overtime Elite league for YNG Dreamerz, but he also ranked as the most efficient player (in PER) at the FIBA U17 World Cup.
At the time of his signing, Sarr was projected as the 17th pick in ESPN’s 2024 NBA Mock Draft.
“This is an extremely exciting signing for the club to be able to secure an elite talent like Alexandre as a Next Star for next season,” Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills said upon signing Sarr.
“His combination of size, skill and a high-level basketball IQ at his age is incredibly unique and why he is on the draft boards of every NBA team as a projected first-round pick for the 2024 Draft.”
Sarr made an immediate impact during a brilliant pre-season series against the G-League Ignite in Las Vegas and carried that momentum into the Wildcats’ regular season. His performances drew the attention of NBA scouts and executives, who frequently traveled to Australia to watch him play. Sarr’s first standout game came in the annual Pink Game against the Adelaide 36ers in October, where he hit two critical late three-pointers and secured a clutch rebound to clinch a thrilling victory.
A hip injury in late December against the 36ers sidelined Sarr for about a month, but he returned strongly, delivering crucial performances in the latter part of the season.

Sarr’s defensive prowess shone during the playoffs, where he averaged a series-high 2.7 blocks per game in the semi-final series against Tasmania. His performance earned high praise from head coach John Rillie after a game-one win at RAC Arena.
Overall, Sarr averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 0.9 assists per game during NBL24, shooting an efficient 52% from the field in just over 17 minutes per game. His contributions cemented his status as one of the most exciting prospects in the league and a future NBA talent.
Alexandre Sarr played one season in the NBL. He averaged 9.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 27 NBL games.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Alex Sarr has made a bigger impact on the Next Star program than one might realise. Look at NBL rosters, Next Star program may as well be called the backup big program as teams realise that's the only position that combines team success and provides the opportunities they need pic.twitter.com/qPBdNaUNSs

In 1984, the NBL introduced the three-point line, forever altering the geometry of Australian basketball. Since then, the league has seen traditional snipers, stretch bigs and volume scorers completely revolutionise how offenses operate and defenses scramble. But as the modern game places a premium on spacing and perimeter shooting, a critical question arises: Who are the most efficient and devastating shooters in the 40-year history of the NBL? To cut through the noise, we have to look beyond raw percentages. By combining historical spreadsheet data…

READ MOREAt some point over the next 12 months, the Boomers are going to have to make a decision that Australian basketball has managed to avoid for almost two decades. Who exactly is this team built around now? Since 2010, that answer was simple. It was Patty Mills’ team. Mills has been the primary scorer for the Boomers for nearly two decades and few Australian victories have been recorded without a major scoring performance from Patty. But as the Boomers move toward the 2027 FIBA World…
