Ben Simmons’ Summer League Games Live On Foxtel

Foxtel set to air two NBA Summer League games per day

In what is a huge coup for the Australian basketball community, ESPN on Foxtel will be broadcasting two NBA Summer League games per day from the 9th July to the 17th July.

Even though NBA’s Summer League has already started the broadcast will be a clear bonus for Australians with this being the first time the Summer League will be seen on Pay TV services.

Coverage will start on the 15th of July and straight away there are a number of quadruple headers airing in the first week, which means non-stop NBA action starting at 6am and finishing at 2pm.

What most Australian’s will be interested in is at least two Philadelphia 76ers games will be shown, allowing us to see Ben Simmons getting his first taste of NBA competition. A match-up pitting Simmons against the Los Angeles Lakers and number two pick Brandon Ingram on the 10th July will be must see TV.

The complete broadcasting schedule is yet to be fully confirmed with only games being listed as ‘TBA’ games after the 13th July.  With Simmons and fellow Aussie and new Milwaukee draft pick Thon Maker playing in the Summer League it’s expected the Australian coverage will include a lot of 76ers and Bucks games for fans down under.

In what could be a surprise omission from the Summer League rosters is Utah’s Dante Exum who at this stage is not expected to suit up for the Jazz.  One would assume that the team is still giving him time to recover from his ACL injury that he sustained playing for the Boomers.

Many teams have not announced their Summer League teams but NBL fans will have the chance to see some of their team’s former imports attempt to make an NBA roster. Former NBL players currently on NBA summer league teams include Marcus Thornton (Boston via Sydney), Casey Prather (Dallas via Perth), Scottie Wilbekin (Oklahoma City via Cairns), DeAndre Daniels (Toronto via Perth).
