He is a player Australian basketball fans may not know a lot about but this weeks International Player of the Week goes to the man who started the St Mary’s/Aussie connection, Daniel Kickert. This week Kickert posted 21 points and 4 rebounds despite PGE Turow (1-5) going down to Zastal Zielona Gora (4-2) 87-83. Kickert has never played professionally in Australia although has been a member of many Boomers squads since 2005. Kickert has averaged 15.2ppg, 4.0rpg so far this season.

Last weeks International Player of the Week continued his strong form in the Euroleague this week with a 15 point, 11 rebound haul as Montepaschi Siena (4-2) lost to Olympiakos. This loss eliminated Montepaschi Siena from the Euroleague playoffs but they still sit atop the Italy league standings and a Italy Serie A title is definitely on the cards. Andersen averaged 11.7ppg, 6.2rpg for the season.

Hometown: Sale, VIC

Current Team: Uppsala Basket (Sweden –  Basketligan)

Former Teams: Adelaide 36ers (NBL), South Dragons (NBL)

Rhys Carter led Uppsala Basket (21-15) to victory over Boras Basket (21-15) 87-74 in the Basketligan play-offs. Carter filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in 34 minutes to deliver the Game 4 victory to Uppsala and level the series at 2-2. Unfortunately on Monday Uppsala lost to Boras Basket 85-90 and are now eliminated from the playoffs. Carter averaged 15.9ppg, 4.1rpg, 5.7apg and 2.5spg this season.

Current Team: Regal FC Barcelona (Spain –  ACB)

Former Teams: South Dragons (NBL)

Joe Ingles seems to make an appearance here every week these days. This week Ingles contributed to a Regal FC Barcelona (22-5) victory against Valencia Basket (15-12) 76-72 in the Spanish ACB.  He scored 6 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 26 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona is currently on top of the ACB ladder and this was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row. Currently Ingles is averaging 5.6ppg, 1.8rpg, 1.8apg.
