  • Belgium - Basket Groot Willebroek (1985–1986) | New Zealand - Wellington Saints (1986)

Johnson joined Basket Groot Willebroek for the 1985–1986 season in Belgium.

Johnson then joined the Wellington Saints for the 1986 New Zealand NBL season, where he earned All-Star Five honours.

Wellington finished second in 1986, with the Saints losing the Grand Final 87–82 to the Canterbury Rams.

COLLEGE

Johnson played college basketball at Washington State, as a freshman he became a regular starter for the Cougars during the 1980-81 NCAA Division I season under head coach George Raveling in the Pacific-10 Conference, appearing in 24 games and starting all 24 while the team finished with a 10-17 overall record and a 3-15 conference record.

Ollie Johnson played NCAA Division I basketball at Washington State during the 1980-81 season before sources later listed him transferring to Oklahoma, where he was on the Sooners’ program from 1982 to 1984.

In that 1980-81 season at Washington State, Johnson appeared in 24 games and made 24 starts, averaging 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 21.2 minutes per contest while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 70.3 percent at the free throw line.

Across those 24 games for the Cougars, he totaled 67 field goals made on 154 attempts (2.8 made on 6.4 attempts per game) and went 26-for-37 at the line (1.1 made on 1.5 attempts per game), finishing the season with 163 points and 91 rebounds while adding 7 assists, 31 personal fouls, and 24 blocks.

His statistical line for the season included 509 total minutes played, 68 field goals made, 26 free throws made, 8 steals, 24 blocked shots, 30 turnovers, and 65 personal fouls while averaging 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game across his 24 appearances.

Johnson’s career NCAA statistical totals match his 1980-81 Washington State season with 24 games played and 24 starts, 509 minutes, 162 points, 91 rebounds, 6 assists, 8 steals, and 24 blocks while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 70.3 percent at the free throw line with career averages of 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

He played alongside teammates Ken McFadden, Angelo Hill, Steve Harriel, Tyrone Brown, Ronnie Joyner, and Aaron Haskins on a Washington State roster that competed in the Pac-10 and played its home games at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman during the 1980-81 season.

Following the Washington State season, Johnson transferred to Oklahoma and was associated with the Sooners program between 1982 and 1984 during the early years of head coach Billy Tubbs’ tenure in the Big Eight Conference.

During Johnson’s time connected with the Oklahoma program, the Sooners developed into a nationally competitive Big Eight team that posted a 24-9 overall record and a second-place conference finish in the 1982-83 season before improving to a 29-5 record and a 13-1 Big Eight championship season in 1983-84 which ended with an NCAA Tournament appearance.

No verified Oklahoma individual statistical totals, games played, or box score records for Johnson appear in available NCAA statistical tables from those seasons, leaving his confirmed college statistical production centered on his 1980-81 campaign with Washington State where he started all 24 games and produced 162 points and 91 rebounds for the Cougars.
