Cameron received a scholarship to attend the Australian Institute of Sport (Canberra) in 2000. He spent two years year there and played for the program’s state league team (2000, 2001).

STATE LEAGUE EXPERIENCE
- AIS (2000–2001), Kilsyth (2007, 2009), Waverley (2008, 2015), Nunawading (2010–2014), Eltham (2016–2018)
Cameron played with the AIS state-league team in 2000 and 2001, with both seasons coming inside the Canberra-based men’s program.
Cameron joined Kilsyth for the 2007 SEABL season where he averaged 20 points, more than seven rebounds and almost three assists per game, earned selection in the South Conference All Star Five and helped Kilsyth win the SEABL South title.
Cameron moved to Waverley for the 2008 Big V season where his year was affected by injury, then returned to Kilsyth for the 2009 SEABL season where he opened the campaign with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 101–81 road win over Bendigo.
Cameron moved into Nunawading’s SEABL group by 2010 and remained there through 2014. In 2014, Cameron and Simon Conn combined for 49 points and 21 rebounds at 60 percent shooting in a road win over Ballarat, and Cameron later had 19 points and 10 rebounds when Nunawading’s South Conference finals run ended against Ballarat.
Cameron returned to Waverley for the 2015 Big V State Championship Men season where the Falcons finished the regular season third at 15–7 and entered the finals as the only side to beat Ringwood during the season.
Cameron joined Eltham for the 2016 Big V State Championship Men season where Eltham recovered from a 1–8 start with a 13-game winning streak, finished fifth at 14–8, beat Knox in an elimination final and fell to Corio Bay in a three-game semifinal series after winning Game 1.
Cameron remained with Eltham in 2017 where a late free throw secured a 74–73 elimination-final win and moved Eltham into the Big V State Championship Men semifinals.
Cameron continued with Eltham in 2018 where Eltham finished second at 16–6, reached the Big V State Championship Men grand final series against Ringwood and lost the best-of-three series after scores of 71–99, 96–77 and 94–106. Across 26 games, he averaged 11.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22.8 minutes, with a 20-point, 11-rebound opener against Knox and a season-high 27 points against Werribee.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Cameron joined SKK Kotwica Kołobrzeg for the 2006–07 Dominet Bank Ekstraliga season, playing in Poland.
