BIO: Peter Hansen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA). Pete Hansen arrived in Australia originally to play for state league team Perry Lakes in 1989.

NBL EXPERIENCE

Peter Hansen made his NBL debut with the Perth Wildcats at 26 years of age. He scored 10 points in his first game.

After spending a number of seasons playing for Perry Lakes in the WA state league competition, he received the opportunity to play with the Wildcats saw him become one of the league’s most consistent players. Alongside James Crawford and Andrew Vlahov the team’s frontline became known as the “Perth Wall”.

His powerful build and strong inside play helped Perth become NBL champions in 1991. Nnot a particularly great athlete, Pete played the game well below the rim but what he lacked in highlights he more than made up or with pure hustle and effort.

the Wildcats would finish in first place and face the Eastside Melbourne Magic in the NBL Finals. Over the three game series Hansen would average 17 points and 9 rebounds, and was named Finals MVP.

In 1995 he would suit up for a one game cameo with the Perth Wildcats.

Peter Hansen played four seasons the Perth Wildcats. He averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 72 NBL games.

STATE LEAGUE EXPERIENCE

Hansen arrived in Australia to play as a import for Perry Lakes. There he played for the team from 1989-1997, winning a state league championship (SBL) in 1994.

COLLEGE

Hansen played college basketball at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas during the 1984-85 season and continued through 1986-87, completing a four-year career for the Rattlers that set the school record for most games played at 122.

Over those 122 games from 1984 to 1987, Hansen scored 958 total points and pulled down 681 total rebounds, and by the conclusion of his career he ranked fourth in school history in rebounds and 13th in scoring based on the program’s record listings at the time.

During the 1985-86 season, Hansen earned NAIA District IV Second-Team honors, and his progression into an upperclass focal point was also reflected in consecutive All-Big State Conference recognition, finishing as a two-time First-Team All-Big State selection across his final seasons in the mid-to-late 1980s.

As a senior in 1986-87, Hansen received honorable mention All-American recognition, adding a national-level accolade to his résumé while closing out his collegiate eligibility prior to 1991.
